Company

Cimalux resulted from the merger in 2007 of Ciments Luxembourgeois S.A., which was founded in 1920 with the objective to make use of blast furnace slag of the steel industry, and MATERIAUX S.A., founded in 1919 as a trading company for cement, construction materials and aggregates.

Cimalux, a company with a registered capital of 29,9 Mio. Euro, is part of the German Dyckerhoff group, which itself belongs to the Italian Buzzi Unicem group.

In a modern cement factory, situated at the crossroads of the motorways in Esch-sur-Alzette, Cimalux produces 8 varieties of cement (Portland cement, Portland Slag cement and Blast Furnace Slag cement) corresponding to the latest European cement standards. The raw material, the so-called clinker, is burned in the clinker plant in Rumelange by using limestone and marl from the local quarry.

The sales department of Cimalux has its offices in the plant of Esch-sur-Alzette.
