Cimalux results from the merger between Ciments Luxembourgeois founded in 1920 with Matériaux S.A. founded in 1919 at the beginning of 2007.

The cement plant in Esch as well as the clinker plant in Rumelange belong to Cimalux which produces 8 varieties of cement.
